Gloria Gilmore

Gloria Gilmore

Gloria’s story began in March 2024, when she was abandoned outside Charlotte Animal Control and left overnight in the freezing cold. Shut down, terrified, and placed on the euthanasia list for behavior, she had every reason to give up. But Gloria fought for her second chance. With time, safety, and love, she slowly learned to trust again. Today, she is Hamilton’s shadow and true souldog, traveling everywhere with him and working alongside Shelley. Her bold, spicy personality has fully emerged, and she is deeply loved at the Gilmore House. Gloria is home for good now, living the life she always deserved. Richard Gilmore

Richard Gilmore

Richard joined us in July 2024, and from that moment on we knew he was something special. Before arriving at Gilmore, he was the wild mystery man of the shelter, labeled aggressive and placed on death row after escaping kennels and causing quite the scene. No one knew his story, only that he was scared, misunderstood, and running on pure survival mode. Once he settled in here, the real Richard came out. He is still stand off toward strangers, but with his people he is the best guy in the world. Loyal, quirky, and full of personality, he has become one of the most cherished permanent guests at the Gilmore House. He is truly one of a kind, and we are so lucky he landed here.

Frank & Lily Gilmore

Frank & Lily Gilmore

Frank and Lily arrived in October 2025 as a tiny three month old brother and sister duo who needed a safe place to land. From the moment they stepped hoof onto the farm, it was clear they were inseparable. Wherever one goes, the other is right behind, matching energy and mischief every step of the way. They have settled into sanctuary life with ease, charming everyone with their gentle nature, bonded teamwork, and adorable personalities. Frank and Lily are growing fast, exploring their new world together, and have quickly become a beloved part of the Gilmore family. These two are truly an inseparable pair, and their future is as bright as the love they share.

Dorothy & Denise Gilmore

Dorothy & Denise Gilmore

Denise and Dorothy came to us from our friends at Carolina Waterfowl Rescue after surviving very tough starts. Denise, the striking black and white girl, is blind in one eye, and Dorothy, the sweet brown and white girl, survived an animal attack that left her eye permanently damaged. Both girls received incredible care during their recovery, and while their eyes will never be the same, their spirits are stronger than ever. Now living safely at the sanctuary, these two have settled right in with the flock. Denise navigates her world with confidence, and Dorothy refuses to let anything slow her down. They splash, waddle, explore, and enjoy every simple joy that comes with being loved and protected. Denise and Dorothy are the perfect reminder that resilience comes in all shapes and feathers.
